Beef Australia 2015 - Reproduction Strategies for Beef Producers

  • Tuesday 5 May 2015
  • 8.30am to 10.30am
  • Hegvold Stadium
  • $15/ticket

Are you attending Beef Australia 2015? Are you interested in improving conception rates?

During this seminar cattle producers will learn how artificial insemination (AI) synchrony programs can accelerate genetic transfer in beef by using fixed time artificial insemination (FTAI).

The use of FTAI is becoming more widespread as producers learn the benefits of the program. Bayer fertility regulators can be used to induce cycling and stimulate follicle growth and eliminate the need for heat detection.

Producers will also find out how these AI protocols can improve conception rates in cows and heifers and discover how AI protocols can deliver more calves earlier in the season for heavier weaning weights.

Presentations and speakers include

  • Using the appropriate tools to tighten the breeding season and improving the calf crop - Professor Gabriel Bó, President and Director of Research and Post-graduate training, Instituto de Reproducción Animal Córdoba (Argentina)
  • Why to AI! The beef producer's decision to engage in artificial reproduction - Dr Sophia Edwards, Reproduction technical specialist, Vetoquinol (Bioniche Animal Health Aust/Asia)
  • Profitability in northern beef herds - Dr Ian Braithwaite, Mt Isa Veterinary Services
  • The practical application behind reproduction - Kara Knudsen, Proprietor KnudsenCattle and Chinchilla Vet Services
